- UEFA accepted the MFA's request to have the two matches between Croatia and Malta scheduled for next week postponed because of the current situation in the Balkan region. The two countries were due to meet each other in the Under 21 European Championship and the EURO 2000 Qualifying Round next Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
- The Division 1 matches St.Andrew's vs Zurrieq and Marsa vs Siggiewi have been postponed and are now scheduled for Wed 31st March.

- Yugoslavs residing in Malta, including a number of football players, carried out a protest against the NATO attacks on Yugoslavia. The protest took place in Floriana in front of the British and United States' Embassies.
- The MFA is expected to make formal request to UEFA to have the EURO 2000 clash against Croatia which was scheduled for Wednesday to be postponed because of the current situation in Kosovo. It is understood that most of the national team players are concerned about this situation.

- The MFA executive council approved the new Premier League format. As from next season, the league will consist of a first phase of two rounds involving the ten teams. Then the top six will play in the Championship Pool while the remaining four will take part in the Relegation Pool. Clubs will be carrying half of the points obtained in the first phase to the second phase.
- The MFA Protests Board turned down the protest lodged by Naxxar Lions regarding the technical error committed by the referee in the match against Birkirkara.
- Ex-Malta international goalkeeper John Bonello has been granted permission to take Hamrun Spartans to court after the club failed to pay him for his services last season.

- Naxxar Lions filed a protest against the result of last Sunday's match against Birkirkara. The protest is based on the technical error, which was committed by the referee who forgot whose turn it was to take the second half kick-off.

- The MFA Disciplinary Commissioner suspended Marco Catania (Naxxar) and Joe Zarb (Valletta) for one match. In the mean time, a Sliema Under-16 player was suspended for three years, till March 2002, after hitting an assistant referee with a flying kick in the face and tearing the referee's red card.

- Works on the construction of the new 'Centenary Stadium' at Ta' Qali are nearing completion. The new stadium which will be able to host 2,500 spectators, will have a synthetic pitch. The ground will be floodlighted and the stands will be partially covered. It will cost a total of 600,000 Maltese Liri and is expected to be inaugurated in August so that it can host all Division 2 and 3 matches, plus some of the matches from the Under 21 and Youths' Leagues. The Pace Grasso will host, from next season the Women's League and some matches from the Youths League.
- Hibernians midfielder David Carabott was voted the Player of the month for February 1999.

- Rabat Ajax FC president Mr Paul Abela died yesterday night at the age of 44 years. He has been a club official since the late seventies first as secretary and then as president. Abela was a member of the Executive Committee of the MFA and also an MFA Council member. As a sign of respect, the Premier League match Rabat vs Naxxar has been postponed to Monday 15th.

- Tony Nicholl, one of the best ever Maltese players, died today at the age of 83 years. Nicholl played as a centre-forward for Sliema Wanderers for twenty years before retiring in 1956. He coached Rabat FC under whose guidance the Magpies won the first ever promotion to Division 1 in 1951. Tony Nicholl was voted Footballer of the Year in season 1955-56.

- The MFA and the Premier League Standing Committee reached an agreement regarding the reform in the Premier league. As from next season, the first phase of the league will be based on two rounds. At the end of the second round, the first 6 teams are placed in the Championship Pool while the remaining 4 teams play in the Relegation Pool. Two further rounds in each pool are then played.
