- Rumours have it that Hibernians midfielder Roger Walker will be drafted in the national squad for the two friendly matches against Lebanon. The national sqad is currently plagued by several injuries. Walker would be the fourth 'foreigner' in the national squad.

- The MFA Disciplinary Commissioner suspended five players for one match each: Mark Sultana and Edmond Zammit (both Zurrieq), Uwa Ogbodo (Sliema), Djordje Pintac (Birkirkara) and George Mallia (Floriana)

- Malta will be playing two friendly matches, home and away against Lebanon. The first one will be played in Beirut on the 24th November while the return match will be played on the 15th December. In the meantime, it is known that the national team will be reverting to the old professional scheme just as it was before December 1998. Players will have a recovery session on Monday and two training sessions daily on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Valletta midfielder Nicky Saliba is expected to undergo an operation which may leave him out for the rest of the season. Saliba suffered an injury in the match against Birkirkara. This injury is another bad news for Valletta and even for the national team which has already several players injured namely Brian Said, Jeffrey Chetcuti, Richard Buhagiar, Noel Turner, Joe Brincat and Luke Dimech.

- Sliema midfielder David Camilleri won the Rothmans Player of the Month Award for September 1999. In September, Camilleri scored two goals in the 3-3 draw against Hibernians and scored one of the goals with which Sliema beat Valletta 2-1.
- Malta dropped one place in the FIFA World Rankings published today and now stands in the 120th place. Only four European countries lie behind Malta in these rankings: Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, San Marino and Andorra.

- Birkirkara have to pay the sum of around Lm13,000 to Vlado Pejovic after that he was sacked in August. This sum includes a 10-month salary plus a number of bonuses. The club has already appealed from this decision of the MFA Players' and Coaches' Complaints Board.

- The new national team squad for the next three years includes eight players who used to form part of the old Under 21 side. These are Saviour Darmanin (Pietà), Edward Azzopardi (Valletta), Luke Dimech (Sliema), Jonathan Holland and George Mallia (Floriana) and Adrian Ciantar (Hibs). Another new player is Nenad Veselji of Valletta. He is the third 'foreginer' in squad besides Nwoko and Okonkwo. Richard Buhagiar, Michael Spiteri, Michael Cutajar, Stefan Sultana and Graham Bencini were dropped from the squad. Carmel Busuttil, Silvio Vella and John Buttigieg have been retained for the time being but they will eventually retire from the national team.
The complete squad is made up of Barry, Dimech, Turner and Camilleri (Sliema); Muscat, Ciantar, Carabott (Hibernians); Darmanin (Pietà); Said, Holland and Mallia (Floriana); Debono, Chetcuti, Azzopardi, Saliba, Agius, Theuma, Veselji (Valletta); Okonkwo (Naxxar); Brincat, Zahra, Nwoko (Birkirkara) and Mifsud (Rabat).

- Four new players have so far started training with the new Under 21 squad under the guide of Ray 'Zazu' Farrugia. These are Antoine Zahra (Floriana), William Borg (Rabat), Rene Forace (Valletta) and goalie Paul Psaila (Luqa). In the next few days three other new players will be joining the squad: Justin Haber (Floriana), Stephen Wellman (Zurrieq) and Roderick Briffa (Birkirkara). Guinean-born Djebriel Sylla will join the squad once he obtains Maltese citizenship.
Therefore the squad is made up of Camilleri, Mattocks, Camenzuli, Zahra (Floriana); Bonnici, Grima, Mifsud, Sammut (Sliema); Mamo, Galea (Birkirkara); Giglio, Forace (Valletta); Scicluna (St. Patrick); Xuereb (Hibs); Bellia (Naxxar); Borg (Rabat) and Psaila (Luqa).

Valletta defender Edward Azzopardi and striker Nenad Veselji together with Sliema defender are mentioned as possible new players for the senior squad. On the other hand, Gozo FC defender/midfielder Djebriel Sylla, Floriana goalie Justin Haber and midfielder Antoine Zahra could be forming part of the new Under 21 squad.
