- The MFA Disciplinary Commissioner suspended 9 Premier League players for one match each. These are Orazio Sorbello and Kim Wright (both Hamrun S.), Clive Mizzi and Lazar Tonozliev (both Pieta` H.), Emmanuel Micallef (Lija A.), Edmond Kela (Rabat Ajax), Edwin Camilleri (Hibernians), Luke Dimech (Sliema W.) and Jonathan Magri Overend (B'Kara).

- The Malta National team lost 1-0 to Vojvodina in a friendly played at Ta' Qali. During this weekend Vojvodina also beat Floriana 4-0.

Thu 23 After that Hibs' goalkeeper left the stadium before the Hibs-Hamrun match last Sunday when he came to know that he had been relegated to the substitute bench, he was fined a month's salary and suspended for 15 days.

- Hamrun's assistant coach, Marco Grech was suspended for 5 years (up to the 21st January 2002) for an offence committed in regards to the referee during the Spartans' last match against Hibernians. Therefore he would be no longer allowed to follow the team from the reserves' bench. Throughout his career of 23 years playing top-level football, he was suspended only twice, once for a red card and another time for 4 yellow cards. Hamrun will appeal against this decision.
- The MFA Disciplinary Commissioner supended also 2 Hamrun players: John Bonello for two matches and Michael Zammit for one, together with Richard Buhagiar (Floriana) and Michael Spiteri (Hibernians), both for one match.

- Malta classified 46th in Europe among 50 countries in a table issued by the magazine France Football. The only teams who stand behind Malta are Luxembourg, Faroe Islands, Liechtenstein and San Marino. France Football commented: "Two goals in favour, 26 against, 18 of which in three World Cup qualifiers. Far are the days when Malta was so close to surprising Germany in front of their supporters."

- David Carabott remained with Hibernians after that Hibs and Floriana did not reach an agreement regarding the transfer fee. The Greens were offering Jonathan Holland but it seems the Paolites wanted also an extra amount of money.
- Ex-international goalkeeper Freddie Mizzi joined Hibernians as team-manager, following the departure of Brian Talbot.
- Former Pieta` foreigner Stoyan Poumpalov joined St. Patrick. He is to replace Hungarian Ferenc Lovasz.
