in the new editions of the Champions League and UEFA Cup. The Premier League Champions will participate in the First Qualifying Round of the Champions League (14-21 July). The Rothmans Trophy Winners and the Premier League Runners-Up will take place in the UEFA Cup. The team which places third in the Premier League will take part in the Intertoto Cup as usual. In the mean time, the Gozo Football Association has been accepted to take part in the new UEFA Regions Cup. There will be no draw for the 8 qualifying round groups but teams will be grouped geographically. The Gozitan representative will probably play against opponents from Sicily and Greece. The GFA has yet to decide whether they will be represented by last season's champions, Xaghra United or by Gozo FC, since they could be represented by either the local champions or by a representative selection.
