- Valletta striker Pavel Mraz had the suspension up to December 1999 extended worldwide by FIFA. This means that the Czech striker is now suspended from all competitions on domestic besides international level. Mraz was suspended by UEFA after an alleged bribery attempt when he was still a Sliema player before a match against Hungarian side Diogsyor. It is understood that following this decision he will be released by the club since a clause in his contract states that if he is banned for a long period of time, he will be released.

- Friendly Match Malta vs Iceland 1-2. Malta is now ranked 124th in the FIFA World Rankings.
- National coach Josif Ilic had his contract renewed for another year. He has been coaching the Maltese national team since July 1997.
- The MFA approved a new format for the Division 3. As from next season, the Division 3 league will be played on a one-round basis. The champions are promoted to Division 2 while the second team to win promotion will be decided in a Promotion Pool between the teams ending second to fifth. The four teams playing in the Promotion Pool will be carrying four, three, two and one bonus points respectively.
- The MFA published the fixtures for the Under 21 and Under 18 Inter-Section Knock-Outs and the Women's Knock-Out. Under 21: Marsaxlokk-Balzan, Tarxien-Fgura, Qormi-Birkirkara, Lija-Sliema. Youth League: Siggiewi-Mosta, San Gwann-Valletta, Fgura-Vittoriosa, Floriana-Sta. Venera. Women's Knock Out: Racoons-Hamrun, St. Andrews-Floriana, Mellieha-Luqa, Qormi-Raiders.
- Hibernians cannot take part in the UEFA-Intertoto Cup even if they qualify for it. This is because the Paolites failed to file an application in time.
- The Gozo FA announced that the Group 5 mini-tournament of the UEFA Regions Cup, in which Gozo FC will be taking part wil be held in June in Greece. Together with Gozo FC, teams from Israel, Yugoslavia and Greece will be taking part.

- National coach Josif Ilic was forced to make several changes in the national squad which will face Iceland tomorrow. Nicky Saliba, Darren Debono, Jeffrey Chetcuti, Stefan Giglio, Joe Brincat, Chucks Nwoko, Michael Spiteri and Graham Bencini are all ruled out due to injuries or tiredness. For this reason, two players were included, Floriana's Richard Buhagiar and Jonathan Holland. Therefore the complete squad is now made up of: Barry, Grima, Dimech, Turner (Sliema); Muscat, Vella, Carabott, Sultana (Hibs); Buttigieg, Said, Buhagiar, Holland (Floriana); Azzopardi, Mifsud (Rabat); Zahra, Cutajar (Birkirkara); Camilleri (Hamrun) and Sixsmith (Naxxar).

- Malta's representative in the UEFA Intertoto Cup was drawn to play against the representative of Wales. The first leg will be played in Wales on the 19th or 20th June while the second leg will be played a week later, that is on the 26th or 27th June. If they manage to qualify, they would then meet the winners of the match between representatives from Finland and Estonia in the Second Round and an English side in the Third Round.
- Three Rabat players, Keith Fenech, Rodney Camilleri and Joseph Farrugia together with Pietà's Louis Azzopardi and Lazar Tonozliev and Valletta defender Jeffrey Chetcuti were suspended for one match each by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner.

- Five Floriana FC committee members resigned just three days before the EGM which will be held this weekend. The reason behind this is that they were not satsfied with the way things were going on in the club.
